SO! ...What IS a satisfying day TO YOU???
... .. .
For me, it's simple. And here's how I came to be experiencing one deeply satisfying day after another... no matter what I do or don't "get done", and even no matter how I'm feeeeling at the END of the day. ....Honestly.. wow.
"How do you still feeeel deeply satisfied about your day no matter what, Derek?!?" ...(good question)
----------Here's how it came to fruition.
I asked myself one morning...
What are THE MOST meaningful subjects to me in my life NOW?
And jotted those down in my journal - I found 4 things
Next, I decided...
I, personally, prefer taking daily effort toward the things that mean THE MOST to me, because any daily effort of any sort feeeels like "progress".
And I adore Abraham's quote here -
"What is effort? Effort is something you do to overcome resistance. If there's no resistance, no effort is required--at all"
BUT! it is also very clear to me... that these things that mean so much to me... are Done! -- So I begin each segment with, It's already Done! So now let's have some fun!
And my conclusion was this -- If I were to take the MOST meaningful subjects to me NOW, and spend a few minutes each day deliberately experiencing a FUN-based segment with each of them, then I would truly be deeply satisfied no matter what else happened that day, or HOW the day ended!!!
AND! - If I were to get into a good feeling habit of experiencing these deliberately FUN NOW-moments -- I just might find myself more inspired to do things that lead to experiencing the unfolding of them sooner than I think!!! :)
So Each Day, from that day forward (unless inspired otherwise), I care MOST about two things...
1. Being aware of and caring about how I'm feeling moment to moment (as much as I can remember to).
2. Deliberately enjoying 4 NOW-segments of playfulness and FUN around THE MOST meaningful subjects to me in my current life experience.
Tips -
- Every segment is ONLY & ALL about having fun NOW, feeling good NOW (and has NOTHING to do with getting "there" faster, or changing something I'm "not liking." -- This is a very subtle, yet POWERFUL awareness, it truly is ALL about feeling good NOW
- I don't care about how long -- if it's 5 min, or 30 min -- I feel that ANY deliberate good feeling effort toward what means most to me, feels soo deeply satisfying at the end of any day.
- If I find myself resisting the idea of doing/enjoying any of these segments, then HERE is a wonderful NOW-opportunity to investigate, to focus wheel, to deliberately just feeel better about it--and I'm also very deeply satisfied with myself EVERY TIME I decide to deliberately feel better about anything.
- I suggest beginning with a small number, 2-4, and if you find more, just choose THE MOST meaningful ones out of that group. The less there are, the less overwhelming and more fun feeling they feel for me.
- Even if you choose 1 thing, the MOST meaningful thing to you in your Life now... that would be a deeply satisfying thing to recall at the end of any day "At least I enjoyed a fun-based, NOW-segment around the ONE thing that means MOST to me." =)
Now breath in, and say "ahhh" as you exhale - and feeeel the relief. =) You deserve it.
